Hi

I think my betta has fin rot as most of his tail is frayed and lumpy at the back ive been using waterlife myxazin for fin rot and small amounts of ethromycin my mum had once for somthing as an antibiotic for him.

His fin rot aint showing any improvement and all hes doing is sitting in one corner all day at the top of the tank having the odd swim he looks a very unhappy chap!

Anything else I could try Ive cleaned his tank with hot water and washed everything. so any ideas? or just give him some time to pick up? hes been a little bit more swimmy today and hes eating but nothing major.

Hi
It would help if you could tell us tank size, filtered or not, water stats ect.....
Also, was the ethromycin prescribed for a human or a fish?
Pictures could help too :good:

Tanks a arcadia 25l tank the antibiotic is human one but is the same as the fish one its just the myacin tablets crushed into powder ive used them befor to get rid of BGA algea. water stats all fine amonia 0 nitrate 0 etc.

the tanks filterd but I imagine the myacin would of wiped out that by now.

Ok.....I've only had one case of possible finrot and we treated with myxacin and melafix combined. We also carried out big water changes regularly. It takes ages for the fins to even start looking better and when they do start to grow back its normally a slightly different colour and can take months before they are back to normal.

I think its a case of being really patient, as hard as that is sometimes :good:
