One of my 5 week old mollies (the biggest) keeps sitting on the gravel for long periods of time and occassionally swimming around with the others.

Water quality is fine (did a water change yesterday too). All of the other babies are fine. Can't see anything obviously wrong with the ill one, other than the fact he has spent most of the last couple of days sitting on the gravel.

Any ideas what's up with him??

Do you have powerful filter that causes the fry to eagerly swim constantly :/ Maybe he's just taking a rest from it all. Also, If he's eating well I wouldn't be worried about there being a sickness. Loss of appetite is a good early sign of a distressed fish. Remember, this fry is still very young and therefor vunlerable to disease no matter what you do. Just keep up the good work and keep us updated on the little ones. :)

Thanks for the reply.

He's been much the same today and didn't eat tonight which concerns me a bit :(

It did cross my mind that the filter may be too powerful (it's a fluval 2) but it is turned down as far as possible and none of the other babies seem to be affected really. I guess all I can do is wait and see and hope that he's going to be alright.
