One of our angels looks poorly tonight. Looked fine yesterday.

He didn't eat tonight, and looks bloated. He is sat at the bottom on the tank facing upwards (ie, his mouth pointing to top of the tank). No signs of anything like fungus or spots on him.

Any ideas what it could be and how I can help him?

If u notice scales popping up then its dropsy. Fish with this fatal disease are best often destroyed, as there is really nothing u can do for it. Even though this sounds cruel, it will save the other fish in the tank from certain death.

Sadly he has passed away.

Still quite bloated.

:(

If we treat the tank with salt will this harm the shrimp? (algae shrimp). I know they aren't good with certain treatments.

Do you have any idea of what caused the Angel to die? We are worried now that it was something infectious that may harm our other fish.

We are going to take another water sample to be tested ASAP, but this has always come back normal in the past, and we do a weekly water change. Nothing new has been added to the tank, and nothing has changed to stress them out or anything.

One angelfish has had a patch on his side which I previously posted about and you suggested columnaris. I have been treating with pimafix and melafix together, although this has ended now. His patch is still there, but is no longer fluffy looking, or red. It is kinda grey, which I assume means it is healing over now, as he is a marble angel. Could this have had anything to do with the angel that died?

R.I.P.
For the columnaris melafix is no good, you need myxazin and pimafix.
