I've lost my first fish and it had to be one of my nice/best liked ones. Poor Rummy lost its life to a platy fry

I came home other night from work and noticed platy fry hanging about the filter box and the rest of the tank seemed to be sleeping apart from zebra danios.
Anyway I left things and went to bed and when I got up tank seemed very active and of course most fry had gone or still being hunted but one rummy didn't want to give up the fight that easy and tried to get to some fry hiding in some rocks at back of the tank. Sadly the rummy could not see that this was to be his end as he had tried so hard to get in the gap in the rocks to reach the fry that he got stuck and I found him to late

On a better note I have got 6 platies in my in my new tank (Rio180) and all seems swimmingly fine

Did you not have another tank to put the fry in? So the fry could be saved and the Rummy Nose wouldn't of bothered to hunt them!

I was planning on getting breeding net or giving net a go but platy popped before i could go the shop again.

From my experience with livebearers, I've always had a back up tank just in case, because if water conditions are okay they won't stop.........little buggers!
