my gourami and discuc havent been getting along, so i think the gourami my have nipped the discus to cause a swimbladder imbalance, is this possible, the discus cannot keep himself down in the water and keeps floating, i have removed him from the tank, i dont think he's going to survive, but is there anything i can do to help him? :byebye:

I doubt the gourami would have caused SBD.

Make sure the tempature is really high for the discus. High 80s cos that can perk them up if they are looking unwell.

Also make sure it is eating.

he was fine yesterday, in the tank he was in the temp was 82F, he was eating and acting normal, except the gourami keep going up to him and pointing out his feelers he looked like he was going to nip the discus but never did, they had a little tiff before but nothing really came out of it, so im wondering if something happend last night.....the water conditions were perfect as well so its the only thing i could see that could have happend, how can you be normal one second and then floating the next without something intervening?

Get the tempature up to 90F. A discus breeder told me he does that if his are looking unwell.

If it's only the first day of being unwell there's a better chance it'll get better. How big is the discus?

hmmmm..how strange, he suddenly swimming fine but he looks a bit distressed so i will keep him in that tank for a day or so, ill turn up the temp as you suggested as well, he's only about 2 1/2 inches

Awww, he's only a baby!

If possible, put the temp up to at least 85F in the tank he goes in. I'd arrange decor and perhaps add lots of live or fake plants (if you don't have them) to give some cover.

Have you only got the one discus? That might cause problems, especially when they are young. Do you have shoaling fish in the tank. Little fish like tetra make them feel secure.

in the tank he was in there are lots of cardinal tetras, its a tempory home until my 60G is up and running properly, i rescued him :) , i didnt want him to go into an uncycled tank so i put him in an established tank until the 60G is ready where he shall be getting some friends, so 2day i moved him to my quarentine tank, if he looks ok tomorrow i shall move him back.

edit and yes he's small so cute  i really dont want to lose him so im trying my best, i thought he was going to die on day one, but he pulled through the tough little thing! :D
