Pool Filter Sand?

hi everyone am new here and i wanted to ask if i can use pool filter sand on my 55 gallon for african cichlids? is it safe?

I use pool filter sand in my tanks and have read of many others doing so. I find it is just slightly heavier than the play sand so doesn't get stirred up so much endangering your filter motor. The stuff I got was very easily cleaned too.

cool, i got 2 bags of 50lbs i am soaking it in water for a few days before adding to the tank. what else i should know??

When you add water, if it looks cloudy after you stir the sand, you will probably have to rinse the sand a few times to get the "dust" out.
