Why do my swordtails have poo hanging out their bottoms??? I feed a varitey of food, bloodworm(frozen) bloodworm in jelly, flake foods (three different types) brine shrimp in jelly. Tried them on shelled peas.
Any ideas? all the otheres are fine.

healthy poo should be short and chunky. if its longer and hanging then its either too much food or constipation. doesnt sound like constipation as they have a good diet. how much and how often are you feeding them?

Once a day in the morning. A good pinch which they all finish in under 1 or 2 mintues.

if its mostly flake they are having then that could cause the problem, try feeding some live or frozen food at night as well to get them going again.

What colour is the poo lovely.

My yellow pair is kinda brown/lightbrown ish

Orange pair, dark brown.

That fine, not internal parasites then.

I had swordtails and they did the same thing. Its probably from the flakes. I was gonna say maybe the algee, but there poo would be green then.

I do feed more flake than other stuff, but only two days in a row then normally some frozen bloodworm or packet bloodworm or shrimp.

Shall i tend to feed less flake and more other stuff....

Veg and frozen foods not alot of dried foods.

What sort if veg?

I know they loved the peas the other day.

I tried cucumber, but they didnt really seem interested, but it wasnt feed time, was just trying it out.
They seem to like small things, rather than big chunks of stuff.

Broc, savoy cabbage cut in small peices once it has softened, also try some algae tablets or waffers my fish love them.

They get some algea tablet when i pop some in for my plecs at night.
I'll give the others a go!!

Thanks for all the tips and advice!!
