Whats the biggest you can get?

If you can't get very big ones ,I've saw stuff for joing them is it reliable?

Depends what sort of liner? Pre-formed, P.V.C, Butyl? The joining tape is quiet efficent although it does not have as longer life as the liners themselves.

PVC i think ,trying to make dad extend the pond ,I want a Masssssssssssssiive one

 Your terms of massive are more like an ocean Cat make him get some builders in fibreglass, bottom drains and all then you can have loads of huge Koi and Sterlets.

Can't have any more sterlets after those 2 going missing :( I'd love one though.

Get one at a larger size, a Heron won't look twice at larger fish.

Well round here the lakes out back and stream give Herons a plentiful supply so we have never had any bother with larger fish but I suppose if they are hungry they may well attack a larger fish but a bottom dwelling foot long amoured Sterlet is safer than Koi at least.
