hi, i have just set up my pond and i was wondering how long would it be best left before adding fish? i have added a lilly and 2 iris's but what else could i do to make it more livable for the fish. its not too big being about 3ft by 3 ft by about 3 and half ft deep.

Hi.Im certainly not an expert (only started myself a few months ago),but i would imagine it may be best to wait until the winter is over and the weather begins to warm up a little?
Its just my own opinion, and if im wrong, maybe a few of the expert fish keepers may like to comment.
Whenever you decide to start it...i hope it all goes well

thanks for the advice i've been offerd 2 shubunkins from a friend, the fish are currently in a pond but do you think it would be safe put them in my pond being from the same area? i thought it may be to cold but i wasn't sure.

adding fish from a pond to a pond in the same area should be ok ,how longs yyour pond been set up ?

it needs at least a couple of weeks to cycle and let the nitrate levels peak then settle ,

if you do get the fish transfer them as quickly as possible and remember to float the fish to balance out the tempreture of the water in the container and the water in the pond
