Hi'

Seen one on Wildwoods i think i'll get the gf to get me for xmas, however when looking at places online it says they shouldnt be kept with other polypterus species? Just wanted to check as my other Bichir's mix fine , i have a 14ish inch weeksii with a 3-4 inch ornate (ornate is not much longer than the weeksii's head!!) and quite often the ornate is resting ontop of the weeksii's head with no aggresion. Also have a senegal which seems fine with the other's (pretty sure it's trying to mate with the weeksii , not sure if thats possible though). Seems odd that one of them would be differernt.
Any experiences?

Should be fine. My uncle kept a delhezi and a senegal together for a very long time with no issues.

my pair of delhezis seem pretty easy going, don't harm nothing much and are best mates, it would be wrong for me to say yes they will be fine to go with other poly's because i haven't got any more with them, yet! i am going to get 2 endlicheri's in a couple of months. i have no doubts about adding other birchirs with them, i don't think for one minute they will even acknowledge them let alone take a dislike to them! they are so dopey! but one of my favourite fish all the same.
wildwoods just always seems very expensive to me, i get my dels for 20 quid and the same for endli's. but i suppose whats near you isn't it!
get them, i would encourage you to keep dels, one of the best fish i've kept!

Coolio , didn't think they'd be much differernt than most species .
Dave- Wildwoods do seem a little pricey but like you said it's what's near you :( i got my ornate orderd in at my lfs and it was £35 which is pricey for the size of it. So might as well get an alright sized one online. Do you happen to know if your LFS has any in ? Once my back's sorted I could drive down and pick one up if they do .

My LFS has a Lapradei(not sure on the spelling) in at £30 so might get that as well once i get another fx5 then get saving for a larger tank for the big un's such as the endlicheri's

Hi!

I have a nearly complete collection of Polypterus all in the same tank together. There are a few delhezis in the mix and I never have ANY problems. they all mix well.

As for the guy thinking of getting lapradei, go for it. They are my favorite looking of all my polys, I have two different variants. They look stunning when they get big.

Hi' Gasmask, do you happen to have pics of your Polypterus? What size tank do you have them in ? something like a 6x2x2?
The lapradei in my lfs is pretty large good 12-15inch but as my ornate's still small i'm gunna leave it a few months. Ornate's grown like an inch in less than a month! like the massivore pellets ! shame my wallet doesnt at £27 a pack!

think im going to get the 2 endlicheris soon after christmas, going to try and source a teugelsi or 2 lol why not, two of each! that will be my collection complete though as i need good water for the rays!
