ok hi there guys

I have 10 baby guppies from a blue tailed remale and a black tail daddy. The fry are about 3 weeks old now and have been living in the main tank quite happliy for the last week and a bit. Anyway I have noticed that the tails shape has changed on a couple of them and is quite pointed. Why is this. Also, when can you tell girls and boys apart.

My other orange female gave birth this weekend to 6 babies but they are quite transparent. When does their colours come through.( my first 10 are quite dark tailed from birth)

and finally, my first female looks fat again. How can I tell when she is ready to pop cos I just caught her at the right time last time she gave birth. (I missed the orange females and had to fish the fry out into a breeding tank.) :good:

thanks for any help you can give me :D

first female popped last night, transferred her to the breeding tank when i noticed a new born guppy. She given birth to about another 10 or so I haven't counted properly yet. Looking very trim now!!

congrats

I wouldnt worry about them having pointy tails too much, unless they look forked?? my female guppy had fry about 3 monts ago and they all had normal tails except one had a pointy one, he's grown up now and its just how his tail is supposed to be (i'll post sum pics l8er if you want). You should beable to see colours cuming thru on ur other fry when there about 1-3 months old, and you should beable to tell if thier male or female at about the age of 2 months :)

Good luck

females give birth every 4-5 weeks :good:

Take a look here.

You can tell boys and girls apart starting at about 3 months. Some males are late-bloomers though, so it may be after that when some finally develop. They also start getting their color around 2-3 months. For the female, bloack out about 4 weeks from her last birth, and plan for the fry around then. Keep in mind they can be early or late though, depending on how long that female's gestation period is.
