Podcast: Planted Aquaria

Hello all,

For the last couple of months I have been working periodically on creating a series of tropical fishkeeping podcasts. Nothing fancy; just me and a copy of GarageBand. Each episode is about 15 minutes long. Anyway, the current episode is about planted aquaria, covering the basics and suggesting ways to avoid the common mistakes.

You can listen either on the web site itself, or by clicking "subscribe", which will paste a link into iTunes. Previous episodes were on catfish and community fish. The next one is on common problems like snails and algae.

While I can grow plants well enough, I'm not an expert, so obviously if I've made mistakes, I'd like to know about them. If you have a computer that can record sound, you might even want to record sometimes I can insert into the next edition!

LOL, fantastic mate. Very impressed.

Your voice is superb, very easy to listen to.

All seems accurate to me. Maybe a touch of an over estimate with the WPG, i think a lot of plants can do very well with 2-3wpg, vallis and hygro i grew well with 2wpg. BUT lol, thats nit picking. Excellent mate.

Aquascaping one should be a good listen. When is that expected to be complete?

Also one on algae and the common causes?!

Great effort

A good starting place for anybody wanting to get the basics of a planted aquarium... and finnishing with a suggestion to do some research and visit this forum is a perfect way to finnish it off.

I'll certainly have a listen to the Aquascaping one when it's ready and I'd agree with Chris that an Algae podcast would go down very well.

Actually the whole series would make a good 'sticky' in the beginners section (as it covers more than just plants) !

Actually, pointing people here is a no-brainer. While there are lots of aquarium forums, this is BY FAR the friendliest. The pinned plant topics here, like ones on lighting and algae, are just really, really good. I've kept fish for 20+ years, but since coming here on a regular basis, I've been shocked by how much I don't know.
