Plz Help Water Yellow

ok, so i have had my tank 4 a while and bought a pleco, which scared the hell out of my shrimp and now the pleco has nicked the shrimps hiding place anyways i bought him a new home in a nice peice of dogwood, washed it put it in the tank and it has gone yellow...why? any suggestions would be appreciated

the yellow water is from the bogwood(Tannins).just keep changing the water regularly and the problem will dissipate.

Do you have a fliter where you can put carbon in, if you do along with regular water changes, the water will clear nicely.

I would advise 25% a week(treated water) you will see the tank clear up for a few days...you can use carbon but can be exspensive in the long run.the bogwood will just leach less and less in time

I, too, had this problem. Regular water changes will help tremendously. I also purchased TetraAqua Water Clarifier. To be safe, I used half dosage. The water cleared up overnight.

thanks for the replys have done a 1/3 water chane today cleaned the filter too as this seemed a little clogged (again) seems to of cleared abit but i have taken the wood out put it in a bucket and added some warm water to it apparently this should help clear it if i do it for a few days...(neighbour recommends anyways lol)
we will see if not it will just mean another water change nxt wk ... just dont want to upset my female guppies got 2 ready to pop and they been holding on 4 ages dont want them to stressed..

Keep on changing the water and should be fine! That happend to my tank because of the wood and all it needed was a good water change twice a week and it cleared after a couple of weeks.

thanks all 4 the replys... done my 1/3 water change and this morning the water is crystal clear dogwood still in bucket tho will leave tiill tomo and pop it back xx
