Plz help me with my baby convicts!

my convicts have had babys and they have been free swimming for about 5 days . im getting a bit worried about the babys being eaten by the other chiclids . the parents have done amazingly well at keeping the other fish at bay, to the point of them haveing half the tank . But the other fish are getting close.
should i remove the baby's to other tank say a 5 gallon, or should i remove 50% of the baby's and leave the rest for the parents...... help me plz!

More than likely your fry will be fine left with parents. As you have noticed they have taken over half the tank. How are your other fish doing? The cons may kill them!

My cons defended their fry against a 12-13 inch oscar. The oscar learned rather quickly it just wasn't worth it! Small cichlids may be killed?

What kind of cichlids are your cons up against?

Hey just looked at your fish list. Thats quite a bit of fish in a 50 gallon. Those smaller fish may be killed. The sev, firemouth, blue acara, and silver dollars should be alright. The others I'd worry about.

yea the cons will protect their fry very well. I left my cons with their fry in my 55 gallon with other cichlids and eventually the number of fry began to fall and then there were none left. I think you should move the fry into another tank, if u want to save them but if u can risk it and keep them in there.

all the smaller have gone to my lfs this week so its just the cichlids and the silver dallors left. They've kept my fish at bay and have cuase no damage apart from slightly nipping the edge of fins.

When they breed again you can always divide the tank in half temporarily.

I would move them sooner rather than later!
