I've a high-tech 20gal freshwater shrimp tank running two Tetratec EX700 filters. The inlet and outlet pipes supplied with the filter are horrible - really cheap and boxy. No only that, but my Juwel background means I can't mount the spraybars properly, and the tank braces get in the way.

So I figured I'd make my own intake and outlet pipes, hard plumbed straight into my cabinet where I can hook them up to the filters there.

Where do I source the parts? B&Q sell 21.5mm overflow pipes which I think will be perfect, but they are white, which is ewww. Could I paint them with pond paint or something when glued up? Where do I get the barbs for my 12/16mm hose?

Any help you can provide would be appreciated :)

Edited to add: Plumbing diagrams would be good... would there be any benefits or problems running both filter into the same plumbing?

I've also (just read BigC's post after posting mine!) sourced all my plumbing from Fish Fur & Feather online - their pipe and fittings are all a nice subtle dark grey. Starts at 20mm diameter, 25, 32 and many others are available. Tough bit will be fitting 12/16 pipe to anything they offer though... no cunning ideas from my side on that.
