could some1 please help me to solve a problem i have been having,i bought a pair of nanochromis transvestitus a month ago and have been trying to breed them but i cant manage to lower my ph,my ph is 7.0 and have read that they require a ph of 5.0 to breed, how would i lower it??bearing in mind ive tried ph down and failed miserably, other fish in tank are: 9 neon tetras,1 bristlenose,1 albino bristlenose,1 algea shrimp,1 pair dwarf gouramis,1 horsefaced loach,4 corydoras,1 butterfly loach,4 harlequin rasboras,1 german ram in a 85l tank, also my kh is only 40 (4 drops ) i bought kh booster but it goes back down again after a water change,some1 please help me thanx!!!

Yeah the back of my tank is built up with rocks with a few caves, they are sandstone rocks which I tested were safe for the tank

yeah they are safe but do raise the ph,
driftwood can lower ph but that would take some time if ph down isn't working i'm not sure what else you can do.

There are commercial pH adjustment products available but you must test and add more if the pH starts to drift. Also you have to add them to the water for water changes. You can try driftwwod and peat in your filter but I do not think it will get you anywhere near 5.0. You could also try Co2 addition. I use it in my heavily planted aquarium and it drops the pH from 7.4 to about 6.4. Aside from that it sounds like your tank is a bit overstocked and I'm not sure all of the inhabitants would like pH that low.

If you are trying to breed these fish i would suggest a specific aquarium for them that imitates their surroundings. also alot of wood and few rocks and the addition of almond leaves or oak leaves will help reduce the ph. make sure you dont buy any leaves or find any that have harmful crap on them. wood reduces the ph also. Black aldur cones also reduce PH well.
