I have german peacock cichlids and one of the females os laying on the bottom of the tank breathing heavily. water parameters are ok and there are no visible signs of any diseases. she's "breathing" heavily. any idea of what this could be? other fish doing just fine, she's just sitting at the bottom leaning against some fake plants and breathing very heavily. pleeeeeeeease help!

fish finally swam up a little but now she's like jerking around and isn't swimming so well, any help at all? pleeeeeeeease!

I'm sorry for your loss, dcraveiro :( I'm only a beginner, have no idea what was wrong with the little guy, but the same thing happened to my albino kribensis a while back. My lfs told me it might be gill flukes but treating didn't help. I think now it could have been some kind of bacterial infection, because I lost a few after her, all to different symptoms, a few of which seemed to fit with internal bacteria. I really don't know what else to tell u but I'm sorry, & keep an eye on ur other guys for early signs of anything. Sorry I'm not much help.
