My nitrates and ammonia were high so diluted them to about nil, (ammonia 0.01mg/l, nitrate, 10.2mg/l, nitrite 0.2mg/l, however is there a way to help the fish overcome this they are just layed on the back and breathing normally.

How high and how much of a water change are we talking about.

to get it down i kept doing a 50% change about 3 times so i wouls say about 75% overall i kept the temperature the same however 1 bristlenose pleco as already died that is how I spotted the spike. it all happened in about a few days

sorry amonia was 4.mg/l and nitrate was 3.mg/l did not test for nitrite realised i hads a serious problem!

Whats the ph of your tap water to the ph of the tank, never do large water changes as it can alter water quality to much, you have to do i gradaully or you will stress the fish.

Sorry for the one you have lost, R.I.P.

it is only slightly acidic at a ph of 8

All you can do is keep an eye on the rest of the fish, maybe add some extra aeration, good luck.

Ive just spoke to my brother he has a plec, and im afraid to say his did this shortly before it died, i dont know whether the ammonia has poisoned its system?

I too have just had ammonia in my tank, and one of my gourami's has died, i put the Prime(red) in straight away to get the ammonia down, which has worked, but alas it was too late for her :-(

Good luck with your fish
