ive just come home and found my plec tangled in cotton, hanging by his tail in my tank and its my fault. twice a week i give him a peice of cucumber to munch on which i weight down, but i also tie cotton around it and leave the end of the cotton hanging out the top of the tank so i can just pull it out with out putting my arm in the tank to retrieve it. just got home and he's dangling there with the cotton wrapped around his tail. i thought he was dead but he must have just been exhausted from trying to free himself. i have managed to untangle him by cutting the cotton and he is now back under his favourite piece of bogwood looking very scared and sad. the cotton has ripped one of his fins but apart from that i cant see any other damage. will this have hurt him? any other suggestions on retrieving food from the bottom?

How deep is the tank?
You could use a net to retrieve it.

I use some of those long handled tank tweasers that have also got the interchangable scissor ends for plant trimming :good:

ye, didnt think of that. got some of them too. thanks

What about wooden shish-ka-bob skewers, or even a wooden dowel sharpened to poke it and retreive the object if its food. NOT THE FISH
