ok heres my issue. i have a high fin leopard pleco. hes approx 5 -6 inches long, quite active, and scared of the light. sounds so normal for a pleco right? he looks OUTSTANDING!!! one of the coolest looking plecos ive seen accept he has this growth on his lip. It almost looks like a fungus. it does not interfere with him eating and it doesnt seen to bother him. anyone got any ideas?

sorry if this doesnt belong here i just didnt know where to put this post.

Thanks

Josh

PS i will try to post some pics asap :D

You are in the wrong place, one of the mods should move your thread, you really want the tropical emergancies section. Sounds like 2 things, he has either caught his mouth on something in the tank. Pleco lips are very soft and delicate and can easily get torn on sharp objects, or he has mouth rot. Can you get him into a seperate tank? it would be best a plain bare seperate tank so you can treat it, lots and lots of clean water helps. You could try Melafix which is a general anti fungus type med, or if the infection is bad you may need to use something stronger, Esha 2000 (emergancy section would advice best meds with pics) Pleco's are tough, and generally have to be really really sick before they stop eating. I think I am one of the few people with plecs that come out with lights on, my guys never seem to hide?

Forgot to add, if you post seperately in the emergancy section you will be asked for your tank size tank mates and water stats. :good:
