Hi,

So my bristlenose pleco had some fry and there are too many for my current tank so was looking at getting rid of some of them. They’re about a few weeks old and my parents have recently bought a tropical tank and we’re looking to get some pleco. However they live 3 hours from here and was just wondering would this be too long for the pleco to stay in a bag without any form of heater. Or if there is a way to heat the water on the go what would it be?

Thanks for any help

Would they be going by car? If you have an insulated bag or polystyrene box, and you only put a few in each bag, with plenty of air, they should be ok in a warm car. Also if you speed a little where there’s no police (I didn’t say that). ;)

If you are transporting the young, and they are less than 2-3 months, it's harder. You have to stop feeding the fish for at least a day and a half, so they can empty their guts. If they poop in the travel container, it pollutes the water.

You can single back them in a bag at that 1/3 water, 2/3 air (no zip locks) or a large. clean jar or wide necked bottle. Put them in a cooler. They should be good for 12 hours.
