Pleco For 20Gal Tank Then 55 Gal Tank

I am curious about what pleco i should add to my 20Gal for the time being, as i will be needing one for my 55Gal to go with the Cichilds that i am helping a friend make( friends tank but using water from my house ). As i have heard BN Plecos are common with the African( South African Cichlid population ). I would like some ideas on a good pleco thats not the Common Pleco that can grow pretty big. I want one( more of my friend ) wants one that can grow to the same size as her Cichlids and not be threatened by the nature of the other fish.

BN Pleco
Sucker Mouth Pleco
and the Amazon Sailfin Pleco

go with the BN pleco.   They will eat algae as well as small bits of food that end up on the bottom of the tank...
 
.they are reasonably priced ......I have two.one in my 29 gallon and one in my 35 gallon..they get to be about 4 inches....would go well in the 55 gal once it gets to adult size.    Not as shy as some plecos.   You should add some driftwood as they like to gnaw on it  and hide under it.

already have driftwood in my 55, i was just curious as to which one to add for a cichlid tank as they are aggressive fish

What size tank does your friend have? Dimensions would be good as well.
