Pleco Died.....why

Hi people my mother inlaw brought a pleco for her tank about 1 week ago and today it has died..

it was about 9 inches long...and seemed happy in the 500 litre tank with other fish...neons and little fish like that..

Why would this of died and should i take him back to shop...?

Did you check all of your water stats and did the fishes behaviour change in anyway prior to death?

Hi, AM. Sorry for your loss.

You should test your water, or go and get it tested somewhere to see if there are any toxins in your water.


Has it been acting odd? What temperature is your tank? Did you aclimatise it well? Do you know what type of Pleco it was?

sorry people fasle alarm.....i just been round there and he is not dead..was having a nap under the bog wood and she thought he had died as he had not moved for a while..

Im new to fishkeeping (had goldfish as a boy) and my Bristlenose Catfish only comes out when I switch the room lights off, except when he wants a nibble on his cucumber .

Same with my Snowball Catfish. I never even see him!
