My pleco (6 1/2 inch) recently spends his time at the back of the tank behind the rocks and plants and I ive noticed he generally has his snout pressed up against the heater. There is plenty of space from him to lie in a different position but this seems to be his favoured position.
I have just put some cucumber in the tank and he has come out, strong colours and very active but with a large light pink scuff on his snout about where he jams it under the heater. (he ate and swam back - again same position).
Temp of the water is 27 degrees and tank = 125 lts. His colours are strong and he is active apart from that. what should I do? Wouldn't he move if it is causing him uncomfort? Im going to put some salts in tonight to try and heal him (clown loach had a nibble in the spot where he was injured which made me worry it might be infected) but should I try and block off this position to stop him from harming himself?
