The guy at the LFS told me that plecos and livebearers like to have veggie matter in their diet periodically.
I blanched a piece of zucchini (corgette), and put it on one of those suction cup veggie holders on the front of the tank glass.
How long can I leave that piece on there in the tank. The pleco is just a little guy and he only rasps periodically, I only have two livebearers in there as well, the danios dont seem to care.
It been in 24 hours now, so how much longer can I sit in there??
In addition, can I blanch a whole bunch and freeze it, or is that no good. It would be easier on me convenience wise and that way I could do it more often.
That way I could just pop a piece in once a week.

Any help would be appreciated.

I usually take any veggies out after 24hours. And yes you can blanch and freeze some up, just let it thaw before popping it in your tank. If your pleco isn't one to hang around on the glass a lot, you can also weight down the courgette by piercing it with a fork and dropping it on the substrate where your pleco frequents.

algae wafers? i heard they are welcomed by plecos. easily obtainable too.

What I do with my bristlies, apart from blanching the occasional slice of courgette, is to feed them whatever veggies I'm having- so this week they've been having peas and cabbage, next week it will be something else no doubt. I find frozen peas and sprouts helpful as you can take out a very small quantity and blanch it without the rest going off.
