hi
is it a bad idea to have a common plec in a planted tank?
do they ruin the plants?
any help would be great

Think it would depend on size of tank, and how well fed it is , they can be a tad clumsy so I'd expect a few uprooted plants too.

I've got a 260 L jewul and i had a sail fin plec. As RYO said, they are clumsy, but he wasn't too bad. Unfortunatly he grew too big for my tank, over a foot long!

You can't keep any delicate plants though, as they seem to get uprooted. As long as he's well feed it shouldn'y be too much of a problem. I would suggest having at least a 300l+ tank to keep plants and a plec happly together.
