My L264 Joselimai Plec is acting really strangely this evening. I have had him about two weeks and up to tonight he has been doing great. He is a juvenile and is really active and feeding well. I turned the lights off in the tank about an hour ago and then spotted him at the front of the tank laying on his back - I thought he was dead. He is usually very active at 'lights out' so I was mortified. I watched him for some time and he did postion the right way up eventually. I did my usual rouine and put some food in hoping that would cause him to move - nothing happened and he stayed completely still whilst the other fish fed around him. He is currently completely still (but the right way up) under a leaf. This is really unusual behaviour for him.

My stats are:
nitrite 0
ammonia 0
nitrate 5
ph 7.1
Temp 78

All the other fish seem fine - no signs of disease.

Has anyone else come across this happening. Am worried he's ill.

fish upside down is usually a problem, have a look at the pinned topics

Thanks for replying - it was a problem.
He was dead this morning.

aww i'm sorry to hear that

you need to try and find out why he's died though, cos if it's disease it could go throught he rest of your fish and you need to catch it asap.

when you removed the body did you take a good look at it, any signs of disease? red marks etc?

My pleco actually has been swimming upsidedown on the surface of the water and now I am worried... is there something I need to look out for? The only thing that makes me feel secure is the only time he does it is during feeding time so I am guessing he does it to grab some extra food.
