Hi, well im looking to add another addition to my tank,
Just wondering what u guys think the best pleco is, theres so many that i cant make a firm decision in which one to keep. i know the zebra plec is the most sought after, but i do like the flash plec. Was looking around and the only one i found avaible was on ebay for 20-30£ cant remember exactly, that a fair price? (its gone now)
The flash plec max growth size is ideal, cant home the bigger ones, my tanks 170L.
ANy suggestions would be much appreciated.

hiya,

what size pleco are you looking for as ive done homework recently on small plecos around 3-6 inchs in size so letus know what size your wanting and il share my thoughts

i currently have 2 x L333's for sale if your interested. keep small, dont eat plants and look great :good:

cheers for the replys guys, i think the ideal size would be 5" give a little. I liked the Flash plec, cause of its varied parameters, but also cause of its look.
THing is, theres that many plecs with their own unique features its hard to just choose one
The l333's look amazingly trippy but a bit too flamboyant for me :p.
I'd like a plec that'd somewhat camouflage, but if it caught your eye u'd watch in awe. So subtle, but still eye food.
Hope that can give you a l'il insight

I recommend a Snowball Pleco. L201. I have one & love it!
They max out at about 6 inches, fairly inactive but a lovely fish nonetheless. Price vary around £12-£20.

James.

Not that into the snowball plec, bit too polka dot for me lol.
breeding would give the tank another dimension, i do like Bn's and are readily available, will have a look at breeding them, if i did go for a breeding pair i'd just be after the experience of it rather than having additional plecs, At 4.5 its at a really nice size. just read the article on them on planetcatfish and im liking them alot. screw it, theres too many variations in colours/sizes/patterns. Bristlenose it is. cheers kizno, thanks for the help guys.

rofl, they look like the off spring of a flying fox and a stick insect. The sturisoma looks awesome. But figure i'll go with a pair of albino Bristle noses for the colour to add that extra something to the tank.

BN should be fine in there and there really easy to sex and breed. I have 100Fry atm and the male is guarding another 100+ eggs in the cave that should hatch sunday night. I have a albino male and a albino and brown female and they are breeding every 3 weeks. Have you looked at albino longfins ive always wanted one but never seen on at a good size for a good price. If you want any more help with BNs just ask :good:

i know the zebra plec is the most sought after, but i do like the flash plec
Zebras aren't the most sought after they are just one of the many exotics. I don't think your going to want to spend 70-100+ pounds on your first pleco. Flash plecos are nice but to start off with Bristlenose are your best bet cheap and very effective at cleaning up.

have a look at a gold nugget plec, pretty nice
I would not recommend golden nuggets as they are pricey and notoriously finicky plecos defiantly not the best for a beginner.

take a look at l260 queen arabesque, maybe little smaller than your looking for but good looking fish,or l214 silver tapajo pleco gets to 5.5".
