I am thinking she's a female, due to all the other indications i.e shorter rays on the dorsal fin, clear black markings on the pelvic fins, very, very slight pink shimmer on the belly region but I can't see from the pic if there is a ovispitor.

The black side spot is really throwing me off the scent though!!!

Male Rams have a very jet black spot on their side, and on females, there is supposed to be some blue shimmery scales over lapping the black spot so its not as opaque as the males, but this fish appears to have a very opaque black spot...(unless thats just the way the photo picked up on the colours? Is it?)

Thats the only thing that is making me question myself!

But, If you can see to the naked eye that there is some blue shimmery scales covering the black spot, then she's definitely a female.

I can see characteristics of both male and female at the moment, can you get a full side on shot. How big is it at the moment and how long have you had it.

It has both male and female characteristics!

mine has all the finnage of a female, but no pink belly =/

Bagu is right, the anal fin does not pass the tail junction and is more rounded, yet the irredescent blue spots seen on a female are missing and there is no pink Belly.

Unfortunately some use hormones to enhance these fish and it can play havoc with female / male characteristics. Read Bagus threads on sexing, it is explained in there.

Difficult to tell whether to go by the spots or by the fins. If I had to hazard a guess I would say it was the same as Bagus, where it is female without the belly and spots. However as it matures you may still get a pink belly. Don't breed from it though, this happens all over again.

Hey man well it looks to be a male but its still young by the looks also. Heres a pic of my pair for future reference. I breed these fish currently. so if u need any info i could probably help. Male is in the back Female in front she has a pink belly.
