i have a large pest snail infestation! they are eating holes in my plant leaves and are an eye sore. ive tried picking them but there are so many! its a fully stocked 55 gallon so the obvious clown loaches are out of the question. im at a wits end.
any suggestions? has anyone tried one of those chemical snail kill?

 sorry been there and wondered exactly the same thing until this

eSHa Snail treatment

it's absolutley fine with fish and plants but will kill ALL invertibrates (crabs, shrimp etc..) along with the snails so for a fish and plant only tank will cure the problem leaving you with the job of picking out 100's of empty snail shells.

i think the packaging has changed but as long as you find "eSHa aquatic snail treatment" it's well worth a go. cost about £5

Edit: just to clarify i have used this in both tanks in my sig within the past 6 months

Another good thing you may want to do, because we get that problem at petsmart (where i work) is goldfish, any type of goldfish, even the 20 cent feeders, will eat them all, you cant SQUASH them because you may see 100, but i gaurentee there is about 5 times as many that you cant see, they are called pest snails, many tanks get them and if not taken control of will cause many problems, there are formulas for the water that will kill them, some will hurt plants, so read the bottle, but take out all your snails, crabs, and whatever else is in you tank that is part of that family, but goldfish are good, a few can do it ok, the liquid is easier tho, plus goldfish require a good filter because goldfish are extremely dirty animals. hope that works though!

throw 10 clown loaches inside man :) in a weeks of time ur tank will be snail free.
