i was doing a water change earlier when i found out that i ran out of dechlorinator (i use seachem prime).
so instead, i used the remaining dechlorinator i had (which wasn't the prime) which i last used about 4 years ago. is this all right? will it harm my fish?

If it's a basic dechlorinator with no additives, then it should be fine although it might not work. If it's got other things added, then they might have broken down and not do anything to the chlorine/ chloramine in the water.

It won't harm the fish as such, but if it doesn't neutralise the chlorine, then that could harm the fish.

Increase aeration for a couple of days and add some carbon if you have any. Otherwise just pop down to the shop tomorrow and buy some more and dose the tank.

I would not only watch the fish, but also watch your cycle to be sure chlorine didn't affect it. Test it it for a couple of days. Good luck!

I think your ok, but do another water change as soon as you can get your hands on another water conditioner just to be sure.
