I have recently cleaned my tank and introduced a rather large plastic plant to hide unsightly cables. Since cleaning and introducing the above I have noticed that all of my fish are now at the top of the tank what looks to be like they are gasping for air. I have had my tank for 2 years now and have had the same fish for this length of time until this morning when I found one of my neons dead. Does anyone know what my problem could be?

yes 3 live plants, but since posting on message board fish seem to have settled down.
