Hey,

I have a two month old Oscar named Scarface. Scarface is about 4 inches.

Last night I got him a buddy. They seemed inseperable, nothing showed me either was being aggressive... Now they are at oposite ends of my small tank 10 gallon. Remember these are small fish. Next to the 10 gallon I am cycling a 56 Gallon for them, in the second stages of their growth,...
Now Scarface (Zebra Oscar) is turning white and seems to be acting weird,....should I remove the new one (Tiger Oscar) who has darkened in color and put him into the 56 Gallon? Then put Scarface in there later. Scarface is about one cm bigger than his new buddy. Over night I noticed that they now have some scales hanging off their faces....so now I am worried. Does this make sence to anyone? I want them both to live.

:(

i hope you're cycling a 100+ gallon tank for the both of them. a 4 inch oscar in a 10 gallon tank is still really small. 56 gallons will last him til he is about 10" then he wont be able to turn around.

I dunno why he turned white, what are your water params? could be that your bacteria cant handle 2 messy fish in that small of a tank so he is stressed because nitrates/nitrites/ammonia are high. Or, maybe when you werent watching the other one bullied it.

yea 2 oscars in a 10 gallon is asking for trouble really and yea you really do need a 100+ gallon tank for 2 oscars.

specially if there not a pair. there not normally very tolerant of there own kind i dont think.
