Hello everyone,

I have a problem with two of my guppies, both have white patches which seem to seep a thickish liquid then fall off, the worst affected female has completey lost one of her side fins theres just a mark where it used to be. She has developed a huge lump on her stomach. (See pictures) The other guppie has the same white patch which seeps, she is very thin.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

The Pictures are of the same guppy showing either side of her.

Looks bloated.. the stomach looks pineconed, which means it's probably bloated... as for the whitish stuff, it could be fungus, but I've never really known fungus to seap fluid.. what's the water like?

Water stats are all fine, Ammonia and Nitrite 0ppm, Nitrate 40ppm, weekly water changes :S, there is no pinecombing of the scales it just looks like a huge lump. She is staying near the top of the water hardly swimming. The other guppy is extremely thin and its stomach is very square and flat looking. All other tankmates seem fine at the moment.

Right now shes pinecombing and headstanding, i really need to know what to do and if this is contagious to the rest of the tank.

Please help someone

If she's pineconing and standing on her head I think it may be too late. I'd isolate her and the other sick guppy as it definitely sounds like it could be something contagious. Add some salt [I think the concentration is 1 teaspoon to 5 gallons, but I'd google that just to be sure] to their container. If you don't have any aquarium salt then table salt will do for tonight, but it's not good for long term use because it has additives like iodine and calcium that aren't good for fish. Don't add it straight to their container, mix it up in some water first.

I wish I could help more, but that's what I would do. Hope she pulls through.

I have read i can't use salt because i have plecs is this correct?

Forget it its dead, do i still have to treat the tank and if so what for?

Sorry to hear it. When one of my fish die i like to be sure and do a 25-50% water change. I advise you to do the same
