We have an established tank; approx 6 plus months old. We have a white tetra (of 3)that is flailing around the tank; swimming upside down, going nuts around the aquarium; for a day & a half. It is horrible to watch. No symptoms otherwise.

Water checks are NL. Please help. This guy is miserable!

This is a very hard thing to watch. Please help.

could be any number of things, but I'm thinking a systemic bacterial infection or whirling disease, both cases the best thing you can do is the kindest thing :/ ; I recomend the clove oil method for that.

This sounds like swim bladder disease (aka: whirling disease). I think you still have a chance with him. put him in a separate tank (you should have one small tank for when your fish get sick). Then try using a treatment for parasites. It has been my experience that treating them for parasites takes care of the underlying cause of the swim bladder disease. If you notice any other fish getting these symptoms, treat the rest of the tank also. Check the temperature of the tank also. If it is too cold or the temperature fluctuates alot it could cause your fish to go into shock. He may be a weakling and can't handle the fluctuations. Make sure not to overfeed him. Overfeeding can cause constipation (which are just like the symptoms you listed above). Good luck and keep us updated!

Dosnt sound good i agree with wolf.
Is the fish darting around, can you post stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. I am so thankful that you guys responded about Ammonia. My test kit did not test for that, so I rushed out and picked one up.
The Ammonia test showed between 0 - and 0.25 (says safe).
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
Hardness 150ppm (hope I am noting this right)
Alkalinity 120
ph 7.2

Our White Tetra did pass away after several days of being sick (I didn't have the guts to kill him) :(
Sadly, our Guppy died also, but it happened very quickly. He ate breakfast then by the afternoon he was losing energy and just DIED.

I am at a loss as to what could be happening.
Right now, my remaining two white tetras are not eating.
2 - Zebras are fine (eating and swimming as usual).

Any ideas? I am a newbie and need help.

You have ammonia reading and it can kill fish, and cause desease, i would do a water change, how long has the tank been set up.
