My Tank has been up and running for about 2 months. My last introduction was about 2 weeks ago which was 1 male and 3 female Dalmatian mollies.

When I was feeding them just now I noticed what looked like mould on the side of the male Mollie. Further observations revealed the same on the other side in the same place. This seems to be the only fish in the tank affected.

What could it be ?
and how can it be treat before any other fish catch it?

The tank temperature is 77F
Diameters of the tank are :-31 x 12 inches with a water depth of 13 inches.

The tank contains:-
4 neons,
5 light glows
3 female Dalmatian mollies
1 male Dalmatian Mollie
2 Cory's
1 silver shark
1 male and female fighting fish
1 plec

if any other information is needed please let me know

Further to more scrutinisiong I think that the silver shark might be starting with the same symtoms but I am not sure about that!!

Can you say how many gallons or litres then the tank is.
Silver shark need large tanks and should be kept in shoals.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
If the stuff looks fluffy on the fish its columnaris, you will need myxazin by waterlife, and pimafix.
Are them fighting fish betta if so shouldn't be keeping them together.

Thank you for answering.

The tank holds about 80 litres (If my maths is correct).

I cannot tell you the water stats because i take a water sample to a shop to get it tested. I do not understand how to do water stats myself yet, but I am trying to learn.

As for the silver shark I was reasured by my local pet shop that you can keep one of them in a tank although I am now doubting this following your post. I am allowed to take by shark back to the shop and swop it for a smaller one when it gets big.

I have tried to take a picture of the furry patch but my camera is not very good and the pictures will not come out clear enough.
A better description of the furry patch would be " a white mould similar to what you would find upon old bread"

Thanks again

PS What's the chance of other fish catching this columnaris before tomorrow afternoon when I can get some medication in the tank.

Cheers
