Hey all,
Have dealt with ich before, however, it was on only one of my fish and he was a swordtail so treatment was easy with my qt tank. I woke up this morning and I am ready to scream. My 55 long has an outbreak of ich. So far i can tell my l075 pleco, kissing gouramis, possible pearl gourami, any my yoyo loach looks to be displaying some symptoms. I am worrying about medicating as i know corys loaches and possibly plecos can be sensitive to medications. I have already taken my carbon out and raised the temp slightly but i need Wilders help! What medication would you reccomend? Machalite blue? thank you.

Drew

p.s. you will probably want water stats sorry....Ammonia-0, Nitrite-0, Nitrate-10

FYI, I have treated with a special copper treatment for sensitive fish. Had to take out my plants though so they wouldnt die. I wouldnt wish whitespot on my worst enemy.

Until next time,
Drew

get some white spot medication, there are laods of them that dont have copper etc, and most if all give details on how to treat with scaleless fish. Your other option is to raise the tank temperature add an airstone and some salt to the tank. Read the stickys etc for aid with that method

divide the fish up between the one's who can take full stregth malachite blue and the one's who can't. put one lot of them in the q tank.

then those who can take it you can treat at full stregth and stand a good chance of surviving, the others treat at half stregth, they're chance of surviving is less but at least your giving half your fish a strong chance of recovery this way.

Miss wiggle,
Thanks for your advice. I want to confirm with you that gouramis will be ok with full strength treatmetn correct? all the other fish are corys, plecos, and loaches

yes gourami's can take full strength treatment

i'd put them in the q tank and treat at full stregth to give them the best possible chance. then treat the rest at haf stregth and keep your fingers crossed
