My angel fish has laid eggs for the first time on a leaf. What shud i do. there are 2 angel fish guarding the eggs and 1 is constantly swimming over the top of them.

What shud i do!!

Help!!

Just sit back and watch. They will do it all themselves. :good:

Probably not. Most angelfish will newver raise the fry on their own. The ones that do will take multiple trys to raise them successfully. If you want the eggs to hatch, put them in their own tank and let them hatch and become free swimming fry, at which pooint you can feed them Napulli or baby brine shrimp.

Dont they need almost constant attention from the parents? ie. fanning etc?

Not at all. I've raised multiple fry from taking the eggs out and putting them in another tank. In fact I have a new batch about 2 weeks old at the moment. Just add fungus retardants like acroflavin or methylene blue to kill the fungus on the dead eggs and they will hatch easily. Don't be afraid to make the water a nice blue color, the meds are not as deadly when overdosed on eggs as opposed to developed fish. So I'm not saying to overdose, but don't underdose or your eggs will be ravaged by fungus.

Thanks Araura. I've learned something new today. :good:

Hiya,

In your situation i would get the thing that she has laid them on out and into a breeding trap. Breeding traps can be used for all sorts (ill fish, arresive fish ect) when the eggs hatch move the babies into a seporate breeding trap :good: .
when u remove the thing that she has laid them on remove cloudy eggs because there the dead eggs or fungused eggs and if u don't removed the fungused eggs it can spread to other eggs.
Don't worry if some of the eggs have hatched with the parents because they make great parents.
Sorry if it doesn't work out!

Good Luck :good:

Well, besides the fact that this topic is nearly 5 months old, a breeding trap will not work for angels. If there was a way to make it easier than AD stated, I or dozens of other angel breeders would have happened upon it by now.
