sorry, but once they get dropsy its very hard to treat in small fish.

I understand you're worried about your fish, but please understand that there might not be people online at the moment that can help you. I'm sure someone will reply as soon as they can.

To me, this doesn't sound very good. :/ Many of those symptoms are conditions caused by stress, perhaps as a consequence of those big holes in his side. They are wounds, right?

All I can suggest is that you make sure the water is clean and that he has some peace and quiet. If things get worse it might be best to end his suffering.

I have a betta who is currently recovering from dropsy. I've been dosing him on Maracyn 1 and Maracyn 2, plus on Friday I added some Colloidal Silver to his tank. This really seems to have perked him up and his scales are now flat and he's swimming about again.

I'm no expert, but this seems to have worked for me, although most people say dropsy very rarely has a good outcome. I got colloidal silver mail order from a health food shop.

The water is fine and so has he for the last couple of days but since satauday
hes been hiding etc

Ps-He lost his babys to the kuhil loachs on Friday and thats were he got bite

Has he started "pine-coning" yet.
If he has a pine cone effect on his scales then i'm afraid there is very little that you can do with him.
There are some treatments that are supposed to work prior to pine-cone but i've never used them as i've only had dropsy twice in my tank and only realised about half hour before the fish died.

Sorry

If your asking wether if when your male dies will your female go with another male you introduce to the tank then the answer is yes.
You will have to be careful when adding the new male - make sure its a good sized one as my female beat up 3 males I introduced (one at a time) cos they were too small. The best thing to do is to take the female out for a while - rearrange the tank a bit and then add them both to the tank and see what happens,
