A few of my mollies seem to be showing signs of whitespot other fish seem ok at the moment. I have a whitespot treatment made by king british would it be ok to use this in my tank as i have an adf , cories and a couple of bn plecs. Should i transfer the ill mollies in to a 10 litre bucket with an airstone and treat them in there. Or should i treat the whole tank . Please help me i dont want to loose any of my fishes.

nope, you have to treat the whole tank, as for every one spot on a fish, there are literally thousands in the water which the human eye can't detect, therefore all your fish will have been exposed to it... i'm not too sure what an adf is.. but you will find that fish who have skin instead of scales can only be given a half dose of the medication.. but check the medication bottle before halving the dosage, as not all medications require this (ours didn't)
good luck
:)

If i treat the whole tank will my bn plecs and cories be ok. Will i have to change all of the filter media when the treatment is finished. They are in a juwel tank.

How long shoud i treat the tank for and will i need to replace all of the filter media or just the carbon when the treatment has finished.

when we treated white spot we had an undergravel filter, so didnt have to remove the carbon or anything like that, or replace after the treatment was over.. hopefully someone else will answer those questions. but when i treated our white spot, we used WS3, dosed every other day, until the spots disappeared, when then dosed for an extra day(some say a week, just to ensure that it is all gone), and did a 30% water change... did no water changes during the treatment (although most ppl recommend it).

we found raising the temp to about 86 degrees helped, as it increases the life cycle of ich, we also added coral gravel to the tank, as the bogwood (which we have quite a lot of) was causing the pH to drop.

the disease lasted for 3 weeks.. really annoying, but we only lost 2 fish :-(

hi lil. Im in the same spot as you at the moment as I have white spot too!!! (well my fish have!)
Im using king british as well and so far so good. just gave my little tank its second dose today as its every 48 hrs on the instructions. lots of kind people have given me advise on my thread " newby with white spot". you might like to look to see if any thing on there helps!

good luck hope it all goes ok for you

Take the carbon bit out when you put the medicine in. When you have finished the course put the carbon back in to clear the medicine from the tank. Leave the rest of the filter as it is.

Mollies are a brackish water fish and are very succeptable to ich and whitespot. They are better off with salt, as in a brackish tank. I would suggest moving them to a bucket or tank and treat with salt and a temp of 82. As the salt will prolly kill off the frog and other fish in the tank, Id isolate the mollies and salt em up. Use a non-iodized salt or the kind used for marine tanks.

UPDATE

I began treating the tank yesterday with King British Whitespot Terminater. African Dwarf Frog is absolutly fine with the treatment acting normally. This morning the mollies seem to be alot better not so much ich on them going to carry on treatment for another few days though to be on the safe side.

Carry it through even after the whitespots have disappeared for a few days. The parasite is actually not killed by the meds until a few days after it leaves the fish's body due to when in its life cycle its vulnerable to treatment
