Please Help Im Very New To This

I know you probably think this is a stupid question but I was wondering how many hours a day I should leave my fish tank light on? also, I have bought a bubble disc and really its the same question, does it stay on 24hrs or only when the light is on?
I know these questions seem silly but I really havent got a clue and dont know who else to ask

Hey there if your tank isnt planted i would turn it on in the morning around 7 and off around 10-12 hours later...

Hi and thanks, that would mean that might light is on when im at work and off when I get home, so are you saying 10 to 12 hrs a day and the time is up to me. what about the bubbles?

As for the light ive got mine setup on a timer set to
7AM-Noon ON
Noon-4PM OFF
4PM-11PM ON
11PM-7AM OFF

I got the timer from walmart for 4 dollars and it does the same thing as those 12-14 dollar ones at the pet shop. Hope this helps!

yeah you want it on for 8-10 hrs per day, up to you what time that is, adjust it to suit your lifestyle.

most of us have our lights on timers, they're cheap and easy!

any DIY shop will sell them, just normal timers you can plug anything into, they cost about a tenner for 3. you just set what tiem you want them to go on/off

Hi.

The equipment I had on a Timer were plugged in to a trailing socket. This was then plugged into a Timer which was suitable for Flourescent Tubes (Many are not). The light was on from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm.

I read the threads in the Planted Section of this Forum and yesterday i received a Timer from Screwfix Mail Order which allowed me to turn the lights on and off twice or more during the day. (Cost about £9)

The times are now set to 8.00 am on - 13.00 off 17.00 on and 22.00 off.

Hmmm, when did you get a timer, obviously it wasn't working last week when I was fish setting for you, I was the timer lol.
