Fish Fanatic
hey guys, im new to tropical fish keeping and wasnt told or aware of the cycling process when i put my first fish in,, i have a 110 litre tank and got 10 neon tetra, 1 x clown loach (last one in stock, im aware i need at least 4 usually) also a common plec (since ive been told of their size and will rehouse it in the next few weeks). i also have live plants in tank. Im montitoring ammonia, nitrItes and nitrAtes. Ammonia levels are slowly rising and im carefully monitoring water conditions, i treat my water to remove chlorine etc
Right the problem..i went to an aqarium and asked for a sponge filter sqeeze so to impregnate my tank with friendly nitrifying bacteria, 2 days later i notice about 20 little white spots on my clown loach, the fish is "flashing" against driftwood and substrate which tells me its got ich. also 2day i came home from work to find a neon dead with a piece "bitten" out of the middle of it could this be the loach or plec? im going to buy some ich treatment tomorrow but have been advised to use 1/2 dose as loach is scaleless. is this true and what do u think killed my neon? ty for your time
