Please Help Help Help !!

I have done a water change a few weeks ago and today only just noticed 95% of the fish in my tank are swimming at the top head pointing towards the top... They are swimming in a motion as if either eating from the top of the water, or trying to get air....

My issue is I have done a full water check and everything is in order, the temp is also correct.

Is there a major issue here, am i going to wake up in the morning and the lot be gone ?
How can i make sure everything is okay ?
How can i add oxegen (if this is the problem?) to the tank ?

Thanks for your help.

PH = 8.0
Amonia = 0
Nitrate = 80 (always been this level, and fish have been fine for 6 months now)
Nitrite = 0

Water change impossible at the moment due to time of day...
(actually performed a 40% 2 weeks ago though)
All Africian Cichilds.
25 fish in a 190 tank

Airline, not sure what you mean ?

Added 4 more today fish today + all these are okay and in and out of rocks...
Need to also point out that NOT ALL fish are at the top, only a large percentage.

(strange thing just happened, turned the lights off, they all left the top for the center of the tank again - Now i am confused)

airline=OXYGEN, bubbles you know?

what is it? midnight where you are? (colorado,usa here) I'd do a water change at 3 am if it meant saving my fish!!!!!!!!

your nitrates are WAY to high, they should be around 40 ppm NOT 80 .

you say its been like that and the fish are fine....evidently NOT

its like this, fish can live in crappy water and eventualy they get used to it, this does not mean they thrive in it which is what we all want for our fish. then the owner comes along and does his water change that he hasnt done in wayy too long and makes the water cleaner, more up to norm. these fish that have unfortunately had to adapt to crappy water are now in something that is completely foreign.

the moral...take better care of your water, do more scheduled water changes like WEEKLY & 40% for such a huge tank instead of when ever you feel like it.

your fish are suffering please dont buy any more fish until you can properly care for the ones you already have!!!!

how often do you clean the substrate and filter (s)????

Yep, some serious water changes are needed here, I would do them daily until that nitrate at least halves. What mamafish said is spot on, you need to sort out this problem before adding any more fish. :/

First water change done and fish looking back to normal and eating again !!
Will keep an eye on levels again tomorrow.
