Hello  :byebye:
I am sad, i just purchased a brand new penguin 330 biowheel filter for my 40 gal tank, and it is not working. It's making a sound like it should work, but nothing is happening, no water is getting sucked up, and the biowheels aren't spinning, and I have no back up filters or anything cuz my old one is broken that's why i got this one, and i don't want my fish to die, can anyone help me out?

Hi ScottieGee :)

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

It's now late at night, so I moved your thread into Tropical Chit Chat. I think you will have a better chance of it being seen by someone with experience using your kind of filter.

Good luck, and I hope you will continue posting on TFF. :D

It sounds like you may need to fill the filter with some water first to get it started!?! ;) Worked for me when mine made that sound.

Mine's not the same type of filter but there are a lot of filters that just require you to fill it up so it will start working. Mine does that. It makes the noice like it's working but I have to fill it up with water to really get it started.

I agree my fluval 3 had to have a push as it couldnt suck the first parts of water up on its own but if there is no water going through i would fill it up.
A word of advice in the future dont let the filter run dry.

after you prime it with water you might have to jiggle the intake valve a little to get the suction right.

OR if it is an older filter, possibly it just needs a good scrubbing down due to build up around the impellers.
