Please Give Me Your Input on Algae Control

Hello. I have a 20 gallon tank with pet goldfish that are now about 7 years old. I am in California and they live in an unheated tank.

What kinds of fish control/eat algae and can live in a tank with an unheated tank?

Thank you for any advice, as the walls coat quickly.

Well I persoanlly think you should just clean it as I don't altogether agree with buying an animal simply for what it can do for you.

However, if you actuay like the crearure and algae eating is just a bonus then the hillstream loach - http/www.loaches.com/species_pages/beauf...ichowensis.html - they are great and I have 2 of them in my coldwater tank. I have never fed them (I have tried) but they just eat off surfaces in the tank like glass etc.

But please remember it might be better to just buy an algae scraper or magnet.

I like all fish. I'm not simply using it for my benefit. I spend my free time maintaining and watching my tanks.

Just because I want to know about what kind of fish WILL eat algae doesn't mean I am exploiting them. I do clean my tanks!

More light will get it to grow healthy green so that more algae eaters can eat it.

Less food and more water changes and vacuuming will help get it to grow slower in the first place.
