my sailfin molly is pregnant and she looks like shes going to birst!!!how many fry do they usually have and i dont have another tank or breeding net!how can i give the fry the best possible chance (in the tank there is 2 mystus catfish and 3 other molly apart from the female, will they eat the babys :flex: )

Calm down, deep breaths, if it's the mollys first batch of fry they don't have many, you can't tell how many fry they are going to have, leave the molly in the tank to give birth and let the fry take there chances, if you have plenty of hiding spaces and plants some will survive, you will need to feed crushed flakes and baby brime strimp.

Try to get a net asap and you might be able to scoop a few. Lots of plants and hidey-holes are great as well. Probably works better with Mollys than swords. Good luck.

I purchased my molly on a Saturday and she had bubs the following day. She had 23 of them and about 19 of them have survived. They are now about 3 months old but i never had to protect them from the larger mollys. They weren't the slightest bit interested in eating them. The 4 that i mentioned that died, i believe this was due to high temperatures as we had a really hot day one day and the temp was way over 30 degrees. I purchased long grass for the bubs to hide in and that kept them out of trouble too i guess.
