For about 4 weeks my female guppy has been extremely over weight she has blotted too i would say 4 times her normal size.
She stays up in the corner at the top out of the way but is feeding when there food about she finds it very hard to swim with all this wieght , Does anyone know what is going on because i am beginning to get worried. Nothing i read seems to help to tell me what is happening i know she could be pregnant but for this long?? and surely she not going to get that big is she???
I,ve just done a water change and also added some general tonic but i,m beginning to think the worst has anybody got any ideals or solutions for this problem.

10 litre Tank

4 Harlequins
2 Corys
2 Young Female Guppys
1 Adult Female Guppy
1 Adult Male Guppy

Sure she isn't pregnant, bloated look can be swim bladder can she maintain her balance in the water, dropsy do scales stick out like a pinecone, constipation try a shelled pea on her, also what does it look like when she goes to the toilet.

10 litres is only just over 2 gallons, is that right? you sure its not 10 gallons?
either way you are over crowded and bacteria get hold as the fish get stressed from lack of space. i think your guppy could have dropsy. how often do you do water changes and clean the filter pad?

yes sorry i meant 10 gallons
i,m no way over crowded there is plenty of space i clean filters once a month and do water changes once a week.
yes the scales do stick out she does have trouble swiming and as yet i have not seen her going to the toilet for a few days now, but as i said it hard any way because she tends to hide in the corner at the top of the tank out the way. Only coming out for food.

When you say you clean the filter you don't clean the sponges do you,sad to say once the scales stick out last stage of dropsy nothing you can do for her i'm afraid, can you issolate the fish.

Without seeing a picture of the fish, it certainly sounds like dropsy to me too. Can you possibly post a good/clear pic for us ?

I'd tend to agree with dropsy. Off topic, but try to get another cory or however many you can. They prefer to be in groups of 3+.
