sounds normal, will you be starting a fishless cycle then ?

You should leave the tank for about a month before introducing the fish to be on the safe side. Only a few fish should be introduced at a time.

cheers guys i thought it was maybe that but i had to be sure..seen as your here could you tell me please how long do plants have to be in the tank before i can add fish? and yes ive started the fishless cycle how long sould it last? thanks again

please read up on cycling, no process requires you to leave the tank, a fishless cycle requires you to add ammonia every so often whilst constantly checking the parameters, a fish in cycle requires a few hardy fish and very regular water changes to prevent the paramters rising too high.

thebra, here is a link which will show you the proper way of cycling your tank if you don't already know.
This way gives you the best chance of not losing fish when you start to stock the tank,
fishless cycle

you can add plants at any time, before or after the fish
