my mollie ( who is twice the size of my 3 platies) seems to be chasing them around the tank n bumping into them on purpose..r they playing? or something else?

I'm not sure if they can interbreed, I'm not a expert on them but he's probably a male and trying to mate with the females.

mollies and platies cannot breed, so no worry there, what size is the tank? and how many mollies/platies do you have? and do you know there gender?
this will help with sexing them if you don't know

wasnt sure because the mollie seems to be kind of aggresive when doing so, since its the the size made me wonder if mollie tryin to attack the smaller platies

10 gal tank with 3 platies and 1 mollie its really hard to tell by the fins cuz they are so small and wont stand still, looks like mollie is female and possibly 2 of platies are, cant really tell on the platies tho

looking at them close looks like 2 platies male one female and mollie female, but like i said hard for me to tell

if theres 2 male platies, then id swap one for another female, the general rule for livebearers is 2/3 female to 1 male, it could just be a dominace thing
