Play Sand

is play sand ok to use in a tank as subsrate?

tesco have a big bag for £1.99.

I know play sand is ok for substrate in a turtle tank......but you must rinse rinse and rinse and then rinse more!

Play sand is fine; it's what most people use for a sand substrate. Wash it well though!

well sand doesn't exactly rot it erodes away easier becasue it is so fine. i think that's what laurasmithuk meant.

But play sand is very cheap, i only paid $2.00 for a 50lb bag.

you will find that it does rot things.... the sand compacts quite tightly and will go black under items sat on it...

we move wood and mix it up every now and again to stop this.

i saw that play sand at tesco's, and im going to buy some. i've previously brought from argos and it works really well, like every1 said, make sure u rinse it a lot b4 placing in tank
